Spot the deliberate (?) error - Hindley van

Hey, kids! It’s time for some Thursday morning pretentiousness!

Spot the deliberate (?) error - Hindley van

Look, I don’t want to come across as a spelling/grammar Nazi or anything, and I’m a fine one to be harping on like an English schoolteacher, but the sign/graphics company who designed this van for a local company really need to get a better typist.

I’d be pretty annoyed if I hired a signwriting service and they came back with the above message. Getting picky, I would quibble about the fact that ampersand looks like it’s floating in the middle of nowhere. Surely the whole word ‘and’ would fit there better? Oh, I forgot, that would cost an extra 20p.

Besides, I’d have though the word ‘maintenance’ would be trickier to spell. This indicates that the error in the above line is simply a typo. In vinyl. On a van. Oh, who am I kidding?

A much simpler message for your van, sir :)

There, are you happy now, Mr Yack?

HY: No. The quality of the above Photoshop is significantly below standard…

*dusts off hands, sheaths red pen* Ha. No typo can hide from me.

They seem to have a little trouble with their parallelism, too. Wouldn’t it look smoother as ‘building, electrical installation, and maintenance contractors’?

I always had fun finding typos to pick on. My mother and I are both compulsive proofreaders, so we’d hunt the things down and try to figure out what they’d mean if it were supposed to be read that way.

Lo What is that ‘instalations’ thingy lol? I laughed till my belly ached. I missed your blog the last few days because I am moving to Vancouver due to the ruddy Economic Crisis as Hubby needs to find a new job lol.

Funny - I can’t spell to save myself - but I masquerade as a freelance writer - my secrete - firefox has a built in spellchecker - these guys need one to!
