Lost city Atlantis found to be hoax planted by Google

The Google Atlantis plant

Google dispute the claim they are tampering with their maps services.

It has emerged today that the long-lost city of Atlantis is in actual fact a hoax planted by internet giants Google of google.com fame. British aeronautical engineer Bernie Bamford, of Chester, made the discovery from the comfort of his own living room on Google Ocean.

According to Bamford, the clear construction lines that can be seen off the coast of West Africa are “obviously planted” and “drawn on in Photoshop”.

It literally made me spit out my morning coffee - who’d have thought that Google would stoop so low as to mislead the public in such a way?

Claims that this could be the world’s most elaborate Mountweazel have circulated in the world’s press, but Google remain adamant that the ancient city plans, which prove the existence of a long lost continent, were not placed there by Google staff.

If they were planted, it definitely wasn’t by us. It’s more likely that it was some prankster with advanced technical equipment and thousands of dollars to spare. That, or the aliens did it. Besides, we still don’t know how to work Microsoft Paint, never mind Photoshop. — Faceless Google representative, talking via Twitter

However, the evidence seems to point towards a large-scale hoax of continental proportions. Supporters claim the clues have been there all along - ancient philosopher Plato first wrote about Atlantis in 355BC:

“After a day and night of misfortune, Atlantis sunk into the ocean, never to be seen again until the dawn of the Internetis revolution thousands of years later.” — Jason Plato, of Fifth Gear fame

“It’s more likely that it was some prankster with advanced technical equipment and thousands of dollars to spare.”

So it looks like somebody who thinks Google sucks has tried to frame them. Sounds fair to me.
