Five silly and rudely-named Google Map locations
Well, it’s sort of an unofficial Google Maps week here at Retro Yakking. I didn’t plan for this to happen — the whole thing started out as just one post — but there are so many unusually named Google Map locations out there they all deserve to be brought to the Retro Yakking readership’s attention.
So without further ado, let’s steam ahead with the third instalment of the Google Maps trilogy. A word of caution about this one - the locations are decidedly rude and in some cases blasphemous, which may make them Not Safe For Work. You have been warned, but I will stay away from outright offensiveness for your sake.
Five rude places, as shown on Google Maps
1. Cocks, Cornwall, UK. Incidentally, Cornwall is a literal goldmine of silly place names: Shop, Titson, Paradise (yeah, really), Twelveheads, Brown Willy… the list goes on, and that may be a post for another day. But Cocks gets the spot in Retro Yakking’s five rude place names if not only for the reason it reminds me of that daft oaf Jeremy Clarkson.
2. Penistone, South Yorkshire, UK. Can you spot the rather infantile theme so far? Well, I assure you it doesn’t get any better from here on in. Also, I don’t recommend you look this place up on Google Images, especially if you are at work…
3. Fuchs, Germany. Named after the absolute battering they took in WWII. Probably.
4. Arsing, Valenzuela, Philippines. To be honest with you, I’m not sure if this place really exists - it may be the invention of some punk hacker kid with too much time on his hands. If anyone can confirm this is a real place, please let me know!
5. And last, but by no means least, comes my personal favourite Shite Link, West Bengal, India. Just edging out Night Shitt, a shop in China, it takes the cake for the most downright rude place/location in this list. Has anyone ever been there?
