Google Maps in popular culture - blogs
I probably don’t need to tell you that Google Maps is beginning to take over the world, almost literally. Before you disagree, I present to you the following evidence - a collection of websites dedicated to the use of the Google Maps service.
If you’re the kind that likes to search Google Maps for interesting things, then Google Sightseeing will be your bag.
This blog is a virtual tour of Earth, stopping off at such noteworthy locations as the half naked woman crop circle, the warped aeroplane and the newspaper car park. More recently, I enjoyed the post on an Antarctic frozen plane wreckage.
Incidentally, I did not steal the idea for Retro Yakking’s recent unusual Google Map locations series from Google Sightseeing. Nope.
LatLong is the official blog of the Google Earth and Maps team, with latest news and updates to the program straight from the horse’s mouth.
Though generally more serious than Google Sightseeing, there’s the odd offbeat post (albeit wrapped up in official bubblewrap).
One for the hardcore Googlers out there, methinks.
A comprehensive unofficial Google Maps blog covering all aspects of the program, Google Maps Mania is another one for the more serious Google Maps fans.
