Sunday Shout Out: The long overdue generic edition
Well, we haven’t had one of these for ages, have we? It’s time for Harry Yack to once again steal the keyboard and highlight some blogs/bloggers out there that have recognised Retro Yakking in one way or another, or have just caught the eye since… well, whenever the last shout out was, probably some months ago.
First up is Lily at New Strange World Today, who’s really been getting into the blogging thing of late. Her site deals with everything from the supernatural and psychic to sleep disorders and self-medication - in fact, anything that might be termed a bit strange, hence the blog’s title. So if you’re into slightly darker topics and are looking for a light, conversational style, then Lily’s site might just appeal to you.
There’s perhaps no better example of this than her post on psychic ability, something a certain ‘magician’ that claims to have unusual ‘powers’ would do well to read. Oh, sorry for bringing that up, I promise I won’t do it again, at least not today. Anyhow, if you’re interested in Lily’s work, you’ll be pleased to know that she has written a book involving demons, gods and vampires! Perhaps best of all, though, it’s been partially written by a genuine ghost writer, and that’s a real selling point there if ever there was one.
The next shout out is not to one particular person or website, rather a whole host of them. Specifically, I’d like to thank anyone who mentioned or linked to my article about Michael Jackson, in which I write about how I don’t want to believe the King is really dead. There are literally tens of these and too many to keep track of, especially since an awful lot are in languages other than English.
My thanks goes to every one of you - you know who you are and if you stick a link to the page in the comments section perhaps we could work out some sort of reward. By reward, I mean some of Harry Yack’s 3-year old discarded hoof-nails. Wait, do yaks have those?
There are many other blogs I’m reading and enjoying at the moment, such as Mega Drive Memories, which I found when researching a recent post on video games consoles. I’d also like to give another shout out to the now semi-legendary Dr. Faustroll, who’s still alive and blogging despite recently becoming disillusioned by NOMFs. If you read his blog, you’ll understand why I can’t spell that out on a family blog.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the inability to comment on posts at the moment. Rest assured, the guys are clamouring behind the scenes to fix this problem, and in the meantime don’t hesitate to drop me a line at hindleyite [at] blueyonder [dot] co [dot] uk, or alternatively send me a quick tweet.
Until next time, keep on yakkin’.
HY
